The Baader AstroSolar Safety Film OD 5.0 is mounted on the filter, a product of over 15 years of expertise in producing AstroSolar film sheets. Unlike many ready-made filters that stretch the filter material, compromising image quality, this innovative filter ensures the AstroSolar film is mounted stress-free. This method preserves the true optical quality of the diffraction-limited AstroSolar Safety Film, allowing it to perform like a high precision plane optical window. The filter features a clear white IR-rejecting front ring with reinforcing raised edges, designed to protect the solar filter material from contact with any sharp metal edge. The filter is easy to mount with no tools required, and it includes adjustable centering bolts to fit a wide variety of mechanical tube diameters. The filter is equipped with non-rotating sliding fasteners made from aluminum that hold the centering bolts. These fasteners come with an integrated machined indicator to point towards the adjustment index. For added convenience, additional Phillips screws are integrated into the sliding fasteners, allowing the centering bolts to be firmly fastened with a screwdriver if preferred by the user. The filter also includes an index scale provided beside each adjustment slot, for fast and repeatable adjustment of the filter cell onto different telescope tubes. Black sliding washers are supplied to securely cover the full length of the adjustment slots in the aluminum frame, blocking sunlight from passing through the filter cell beside the filter area. For added security, the filter comes with three security straps to secure the position of the filter cell with Velcro-adhesive pads. This safety feature ensures a secure fit in front of the telescope under any circumstances, such as a gust of wind. The filter is safe for solar observation and photography with all high-end telescopes and extreme tele-lenses. It is suitable for the highest magnifications and detailed observation of individual sunspots.
