Description: UP FOR AUCTION: RARE, VINTAGE BOOK: Le Médecin De Campagne (English Translation: "The Country Doctor") by Honoré de BALZAC, illustrated with at least 8 full-page plates of Black-and-White drawings by Daniel Hernández Morillo, Published by George Barrie et Fils, 19 Rue Scribe, Paris, France, circa 1897, Printed by Charles Herissey, Evreux, France, Illustrated Edition, circa 1897 ( text does not have a printing date, but the artworks are all copyrighted 1897 by this book's publisher, George Barrie and Sons), Hardcover Book, 350 Pages, in French Language only, This is an antique book by French novelist, Honoré de BALZAC (1799-1850). He completed the book in 1833. The Peruvian painter, Daniel Hernández Morillo (1856-1932), created at least 8 amazing engravings for the book. I was able to find 8, but there may be others I did not find inside. The engravings are Copyrighted 1897 by George Barrie and Son (see tiny print above ebay pics of artworks). The artist is called "Daniel Hernandez" in the book, but he is the same person as Daniel Hernández Morillo (because the artist's signatures on artworks are the same). He was a Peruvian, but he spent most of his life in Paris. This book is about the life of a country doctor. This is a special edition of this book with the following features: green cloth covers, original paper-label title on spine, top edge gilded, other edges deckle-edged, thick gray endpapers, and most of Hernandez's artworks printed on special vellum paper and protected by tissue-guards, See actual book in ebay pics above. It is a nice, historic, original, vintage, book in clean, solid condition.
