I could not get this loose and as I really missed having the blender able to be used, I purchased the new one which is now being listed.Before the new Bamix arrived my son had a go at removing the damaged blade and was successful.Problem solved for me - I now had my old unit working and therefore did not need the new one.This has sat in the cupboard for ?maybe 12 months? and the old one has not missed a beat since changing the blade, so I am on-selling the new unit.Of course, the manufacturer's warranty on the device is from purchase date.
