Description: Barker Ellis Silver Plated 4" Tea/Tobacco Caddy Menorah Hallmark Circa 1912 English. Copper based. This cannister has a hinged lid. It is approximately 4" tall with a 2.75" diameter. It is hallmarked with menorah enclosed in a footed circle. From my research I have found this to mean it was made by the Barker & Ellis Brothers closely after 1912. I am not an expert in silver plate and I welcome revisions from the community if I am incorrect. This cannister has an open space where a monogram could be added. Below the menorah hallmark it is stamped 26 and below that MADE IN ENGLAND. Both sides of the hinge are stamped with the number 50. I have been looking and can not find information on what these numbers mean. I would love to know if anyone can tell me. The hinge is working smoothly and the lid fits neatly down onto the cannister. Small scratches and a ding can be observed. Tarnish may also be found. Directly below the MADE IN ENGLAND stamp you can see a very tiny wear mark that shows the copper base coming through.
