Description: BAT Balanced Audio Technology VK-50 preamplifier replacement faceplate. The color is the standard dark gray finish. BAT saved the old faceplates that came off the VK-50 preamplifiers, when they did upgrades to the preamps. This was purchased from BAT years ago, for a replacement faceplate for a VK-50 preamp that I used to own, but I never did the faceplate replacement, sold the preamplifier, and still have the spare faceplate stored in the closet, wrapped in bubble wrap, after all these years. I originally paid $300 for this complete faceplate from BAT, back in 2005. That was a great price, considering that in 2005, a newly made faceplate was $650, plus the top center logo $75, the model number badge $25, and the blue lenses $20. This faceplate condition looks flawless, no signs of any marks or scratches on it anywhere. So if you want to pretty up a VK-50, or50SE preamplifier, that has a beat up faceplate, this faceplate will make the preamplifier look great. The replacement work for the faceplate requires disassembling the whole preamplifier, to get to the faceplate mounted to the chassis, plus removing the front board off the old faceplate. It can be done with a torx screwdriver, and a 1/4" and a 3/8" nut driver, and might take about 1 hour to do the faceplate replacement work, taking your time, if you're good at basic mechanical type work. Everything in the preamplifier is plugs, so the preamplifier can disassemble and reassemble very easily. Or you can just let an experienced technician do the replacement work for you, is your best choice, just to be safe. Be aware, these BAT preamplifier have large high voltage capacitors inside. Be sure to let the preamplifier discharge for 24 hours, before doing any work on the disassembling the preamplifier! And always take lots of photos before doing any disassembly work, especially the connections inside the preamplifier. I used to do pro audio service, so there's nothing really hard about replacing the faceplate, if you know about basic service work.
