One volume, Battle Fields and Camp Fires, covers the Civil War from the Removal of McClellan to the Accession of Grant (1861-1862); the other volume, Battle Fields and Victory, covers from the Accession of Grant to the Command of the Union Armies to the End of the War. The books included a detailed account of the Civil War including thrilling events, stories, anecdotes, accounts and observations by Civil War soldiers. THIS BOOK IS IN NEAR FINE CONDITION These two original, first edition, antique books are in excellent overall condition. The books are handsomely presented in matching covers with light blue, cloth covers; red, impressed, cover lettering; gold, impressed spine lettering; and decorative scenes on the cover and spines. The exteriors are clean and handsome with some light soil to one volume. The books have no bumping, rubbing or discernible edge wear. The lettering is sharp and the impressed images are sharp. The interiors of both books are clean and the pages are in excellent condition. Both books have a matching personal ownership stamp on the front end page as shown. The books have no writing, foxing or pasteboards. This is not an ex-library book set. There is a very light touch of smudging on a couple of pages. Both books are richly illustrated with full and partial page illustrations throughout. Both books have solid binding; the books have no looseness or lean and all four hinges are fine.
