Beautiful Antique Gouache Painting Harbor Seascape Inscribed

Description: Up for sale is a beautiful antique painting depicting a seascape harbor view showing a man in a small wood row boat. With nets bundled in each end of his little vessel he sits staring at the viewed against the land showing a partially visible town and tower. Executed in an almost impressionist style this work is very well painted and is signed in the low left corner "O. D'Arty". Executed on paper laid to board the painting measures 10.5 x 13.25 inches while its original period gold wood frame measures 19.5 x 21.75 inches. I love the overall image composed of mostly cool blue and green tones of the sky with just a little warmth coming through from the slightly deep red tinted wood ship. The painting is very attractive with the work originally being retailed through Luis Fantini Gallery of Buenos Aires as indicated by the paper label verso. Interestingly while retailed through this gallery the work was purchased by a Polish collected and gifted as an anniversary present as indicated by the hand written label verso. The text which is written in Polish is a sweet poem reading... "Like a lost sailor seeks relief in the dreamy depht of waters... So let let Your (reffering to a woman) happines (or luck) go onwards Giving joy to life, without hesitation... As proof of hearty friendship and capturing of the anniversary, on the day of 2nd of february 1940. Mrs. (...?) Gowackiej" The painting also shows another inscription which is illegible as shown in the last photograph. The painting while in excellent condition showing little to no wear or signs of age is a real beauty. Its old matting shows foxing and frame loss and chipping.
