Beautiful Red-Orange Slag Glass 3 1/2 inch Small Swan by Boyd Crystal Art Glass

Description: This is a beautiful red and orange slag glass small swan made by Boyd Crystal Art Glass. These swans were made from an old Cambridge #1040 swan mold that had been reworked and sold to Imperial Glass Company. When Imperial closed, the mold was sold to Boyd, in 1985. Although it is not listed in Boyd’s mouldlists on their website, the swan bears Boyd’s B in a diamond mark, with no lines, on the bottom (although it should have had one line beneath the diamond since it was made in 1985). This swan measures 3 1/2 inches long across the top, from the tail to the head, and is 2 1/4 inches tall at her head. She weighs 3.4 ounces before packing for shipping. It does have a partial cadmium glow in black light. (The last photo shows the way it looks in black light. That is NOT a uranium or vaseline glass glow.) There is no damage to this pretty piece. (The history mentioned of this swan mold came from an article by Clyde E Ingersoll that was published in the book Glass Animals of the Depresson Era, by Lee Garmon and Dick Spencer, c. 1993.
