Description: Bennington VT Rockingham Pottery Bowl Lyman Fenton Flint Enamel Large Antique Description and Item Information Up for sale is this antique art pottery bowl by Lyman, Fenton, and Co. of Bennington, Vermont. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This twelve-sided bowl has a flint enamel Rockingham glaze in brown and tan. This large piece measures approximately 14 3/4 inches by 14 1/2 inches by 4 7/8 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 6 pounds 6.2 ounces. This would be a fine addition to a collection of antique American art pottery. Identification This Lyman, Fenton and Co. piece has impressed markings beneath, "Lyman Fenton & Co. Fenton's ENAMEL PATENTED 1849 BENNINGTON Vt." This antique piece was made in Bennington, Vermont during the mid-19th century. Condition The bowl displays well overall, but it is not in perfect condition, like most antique Bennington pottery. It has fine crazing and wear from use. The interior has dullness scratches, the foot has wear scratches, and there are scattered scratches elsewhere. There is a small chunk of missing glaze to the interior bottom (about 1/8 inch across). There are two hairline cracks which are each about 4 inches long that have minor flaking/fleabites along them. There are two shorter, fine hairlines from the rim which are each about an inch long. There are a few tiny rim glaze fleabites and some small clay chips to the foot. As made, there are glaze variations, kiln stilt marks beneath and there are small indents and a glaze pop. Please review the description and photos, and ask any necessary questions prior to bidding or buying. Terms of Sale 1. Payments Taxes may be applicable.
