Description: the guard was lose when I got it a few years agoI re-secured the guard with some rope as shownthe sword is now solid enough to swing around and do some cuttingthe scabbard was deteriorating and has been mediatedthe original scabbard had a date marking of 1890's the sword blade is probably a much older blade as is typical for thesethe blade has two symbol markings common on older swords and a mystery to mostwith some meditation my understanding of the blade symbols is one for cutting power and one for puncturing powerthe symbol on the gold element on the guard is an apparent voodoo veve my research on the sword can be found on Viking sword forums
