Description: This listing is for a single Bicron / Saint-Gobain 1.5M2.25/1.5L NaI(Tl) scintillation detector in excellent condition. These detectors have been professionally refurbished by seller with new 120 MegOhm voltage divider and BNC connector (other values and connectors available on request). Each detector is ready for use with radiation survey equipment or for use in a gamma spectroscopy setup.The Bicron / Saint-Gobain 1.5M2.25/1.5L NaI(Tl) scintillator detector uses a Thallium doped Sodium Iodide NaI(Tl) Scintillation Crystal for Gamma Radiation Detection. The crystal is 57mm Long (2-1/4 inch) by 38mm diameter (1-1/2 inch) and able to respond to a wide range of energies. The PMT used in this detector is a high quality Hamamatsu R980 Photomultiplier Tube, and includes a newly installed 120 MegOhm dynode chain (other values available on request). There is a grounded Mu-Metal shield surrounding the PMT itself, plus the housing also serves as additional grounded shielding. The end-cap has a new high quality Amphenol BNC jack installed. Bicron is one of the best known brands in the scintillation detector business, and makes some of the best detectors available. This probe is far superior to the similar sized but less capable Ludlum Model 44-2, which only has a 1 inch crystal. The crystal in this probe has nearly 3.5 times the volume of the Ludlum 44-2, which makes if far more sensitive to a wider range of energies.Dimensions: About 1-3/4-inch diameter and 6-3/4-inch long without the BNC connector (44mm x 170mm).Pictures show operation on a Ludlum Survey Meter running at about 750 volts, with excellent response to background and check sources. Following pictures show the probe being used for Gamma Spectroscopy using a Theremino PMT Adapter (I often have these in other listings). The probe responds well to a wide range of energies, even a very week source of Lu176 contained in a LYSO crystal (the Lu176 sources and LYSO crystals are available in my other listings).
