Description: Bismarck The Final Days of Germany's Greatest Battleship Niklas Zetterling & Michael Tamelander In "like new", condition, the hardcover book boards and pages are clean and free of any markings, stains or folded page corners. The dust jacket is in very good condition, too. A set of eight pages of photographs are inserted between pages (152 & 153) along with several charts. The authors describe maritime development from the 1870's to the 1940s including, in great detail, what happened when the German ship, Bismarck, "a masterpiece of engineering with a radar-guided main artillery of eight 15-inch guns" on its maiden combat voyage was discovered by Norwegian and Allied air reconnaissance on May 18, 1941. Six days later, off the Greenland coast, the largest Royal Navy ship, HMS Hood, together with the Prince of Wales, confronted the Bismarck. The Hood was destroyed and the Prince of Wales was severely damaged. With several heavy convoys from the US were heading to Britain, the Royal Navy pursue and destroy the Bismarck. A recommended "good read" for WWII history buff and especially for those interested in naval battles. Questions welcomed
