BINDING: Full green cloth, blind tooled with gilt titles..The Second Boer War (11 October 1899 – 31 May 1902) known to Afrikaans as the Second Freedom War,was a conflict which was fought between the British Empire and the two Boer Republics (the South African Republic and the Orange Free State) over the Empire's influence in Southern Africa from 1899 to 1902. .Black & White magazine periodical was founded by Charles Norris (C N) Williamson (1859–1920) a British writer and motoring journalist. The Black & White Budget (the first 26 issues included in this lot) was an evolution of the magazine that includes exclusively coverage of the Transvaal Conflict - the first issues explaining the political background and reviewing the time line of events, then displaying maps and half-tone photos of military mobilization in Great Britain. Each 32 page issue includes many both half-tone and photogravure photos, including company portraits, officer portraits, unsigned narratives, signed poetry, and lots of military equipment images. Cartoons also appear. The slant is decidedly British to the point of propaganda. .Photos below hardly do justice to the content which includes easily over 1000 individual images.
