Description: Handmade Lampwork glass beads are made one at a time by heating a cane or rod of glass over a flame torch and then applying the molten glass around a mandrel. The bead is held over the flame while it is worked on and cooled slowly to strengthen the glass. It takes a lot of skill to keep the bead from losing its shape and the adding of other colors in swirls or flowers demands much concentration. This bead is made of a black glass base with lavender dots on the outside resting on yellow. These make smooth bumps on the bead. Some of the close-up photos look like there is wear marks on the black close to the hole, but this is not actually true as the black portion of the bead is very polished and glossy.
