Description: DC COMICS DC Studios HBO MAX Cinematic DC Universe First Appearance KeyPeacemaker (Christopher Smith) Like the first two incarnations of BLUE BEETLE, THE QUESTION and several other pre-existing Charlton Comics' characters purchased by DC Comics in the 1980s, PEACEMAKER a.k.a. CHRISTOPHER SMITH was introduced into DC continuity during the DCU-altering Crisis on Infinite Earths maxi-series. The character was apparently killed in 1999 in the Day of Judgement limited series, after which two other characters assumed the Peacemaker mantle in various DC issues and series. With the introduction of Jaime Reyes as a third and all-new version of the Blue Beetle, Peacemaker returned to the DC fold as the Christopher Smith version of the character, his back-story altered slightly so as to give him his own connection to the alien scarab that fused with Reyes and transformed him into living weaponry. While the story begun in Blue Beetle #3 (2006) would initially place the two Charlton Legacy heroes at odds, the conflict would resolve and Smith would remain a member of the series' cast for the duration of its 36 issue run. Wrestling sensation and actor John Cena brought Peacemaker to live-action in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad (2021) and its spin-off series Peacemaker (2022), which was set in the now-defunct DCEU but which will also be absorbed into new cinematic DC Universe canon. As this is also true for Blue Beetle and other characters soon appearing in the upcoming Blue Beetle motion picture, an eventual live-action reunion of Blue Beetle and the John Cena-portrayed Peacemaker is more than possible. While the collectable heat of Blue Beetle #3 (2006), which reintroduces Peacemaker Christopher Smith to the DC Universe, has died down in the aftermath of the HBO Max Peacemaker series, the aforementioned possible reunion of the issue's heroes makes this a veritable "SLEEPER KEY" and one worthy of serious reconsideration for serious DCU collectors and long-term investors who want to give their collections exactly what they deserve.
