After scouring the internet for information about this guy, not many people seem to have an idea of where he's from. Turns out, he's from a book called "Hey Willy, See the Pyramids" by author Maira Kalman. He is featured on one of the pages in which the text reads: Aunt Ida and Uncle Morris had a dog named Max.Max wanted to live in Paris and be a poet.In the evening, Max would tiptoe down the hall, with a suitcase, trying to sneak out of the house.Ida would say to Morris, "Quick, Morris, catch the dog." Please see the pictures to confirm the condition of this display. It is is made of wood and is approximately 27" x 25" and 1/4" thick. It has some holes in it originally used for hanging as well as some general scrapes and scratches from use in a store. Additionally, it has some nails in the back that have been bent over.
