Description: This is a fascinating, bootleg, business(Brown, Shipley & Co.) cover(with info on the status of the addressee's account) sent from London, UK, to Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A., on July 17, 1873! The mail went through a forwarding agency, a Brown Brothers & Company(a neat, company cachet!) in Boston, who placed a brown, 2-Cent, "Jefferson," U.S. definitive on it to send it to the addressee, a Messr. Hy Hastings & Company, Boston, on July 30, 1873! To continue, as for the brown, 2-Cent U.S. definitive, outside of some damage to the lower half of the perfs of its left side, it's in pretty good condition. The fancy and CDS cancels from the Boston P.O. are superb! Lastly, as for the condition of the wrapper, itself, considering that it's over 151 years old, it's in pretty good condition. It's quite clean. There are some tears in the paper, too(2 larger ones & a few, smaller ones). It is mostly complete, though. Noted imperfections aside, this remains a really neat piece of bootleg mail sent from London to Boston, and facilitated by a forwarding agent, Brown Brothers & Company, in 1873!
