Description: CUSTOM, ONE-OF-A-KIND 119-year-old Antique Vive MPC (Mechanical Plate Changing) Model B c. 1900, S/N 13773, completely refurbished and refinished with a new Ebony veneer covering. An uncommon magazine plate changing box camera in the larger 4” x 5” size with a side crank to advance the plates, similar in style to the Cyclone Magazine No’s. 4 & 5 (Unfortunately, there are no plates in this camera). Lens is clear with no haze, fungus or balsam separation, viewfinders are clear. Shutter is operational with a simple T/I selector lever, and a single aperture setting. Although not visible from the outside, internally there is an alternate pneumatic shutter release system requiring a screw-in pneumatic bulb under the cover plate on the side, and unlike systems that used internal rubber hoses and bladders that have hardened and disintegrated over time, this camera has a brass piston to actuate the shutter which is operational if you have the proper bulb and screw-in attachment. Customized with Ebony veneer and polished hardware, this camera is a one-of-a-kind creation, perfect for display in any camera collection or gift for the avid camera collector!
