Lernaean Hydra was a monster who possessed multiple heads, although the exact number varies according to the source. The Hydra also had regenerative power, for every head that was decapitated, the Hydra would regrow two heads. Realizing that he could not defeat the Hydra by decapitation, Hercules called on his nephew Iolaus for help.
