BU 2005-P "BROKEN TOMAHAWK" E/V Bison 5c Nickel RARE! No Reserve! -- Buy It Now!

Description: BU 2005-P "BROKEN TOMAHAWK" E/V Bison 5c Nickel RARE! No Reserve! -- Buy It Now! Coin Holder Signed/Dated By Discoverer Of Error/Variety! Original BU NEW "BROKEN TOMAHAWK" BISON NICKEL TRUE DIE ERROR/VARIETY Well defined 2005-P New Jefferson Bison/Buffalo Nickel error/variety. The Buffalo/Bison has what appears as the head of a Tomahawk protruding from its side in "strong relief", like the head of a Broken Tomahawk (this very popular Native American "hatchet" tool was usually made from carved/sharpened stone or flint rock -- when I was a kid, we found several of these on my parent's homesteaded farmland in North Dakota as well as numerous arrowheads, etc.). It is conceivable that one might have tried to kill a buffalo in such a manner by throwing this hatchet-like tool at it, hoping for a critical hit such as this one piercing the heart area. Tomahawk Head is located near center of coin reverse above right front buffalo leg and straight back from horn -- see micro-photos. Taken from original BU mint sealed bag and discovered by me on 3/31/05. Those who have seen or obtained the Denver Mint variety now known as the "Speared Bison" may also want one of these in their collections as well as our P-Mint "SPEAR TIP" DDO/DDR Bison Nickel that we list separately along with its MINT-corrected "Crying Jefferson" ERROR version and several other interesting varieties. The 2005 Bison/Buffalo Nickel has to be one of the most fascinating coins to have been released by the mints in quite some time. We also discovered several scarce minor true tilted-hub doubled dies from Philadelphia and one from Denver mint Bison nickels. For those who did not know, Bison is simply another word for Buffalo, although I think the coin industry is compelled to use the word "Buffalo" to distinguish the 5c nickels produced from 1913-1938 and the word "Bison" for the modern ones produced in 2005 -- For clarification purposes, this is probably a great idea. This error/variety appears to be either an errant design flaw known as "Blundered Die" with detail in strong relief or possibly caused by a strangely well-placed and well-defined die chip. Of the examples located, they are identical with no progression noted. NEWS RELEASE pertaining to this discovery was submitted to Coin World magazine editorial unit for their perusal and dissemination to the coin collecting community. Also see our separate lots for more 2005-P and D Bison/Buffalo DDO & DDR (Doubled Die Obverse & Reverse) Nickel varieties as well as other coins & error/varieties, cents and up. As discoverer of this variety, this is the ONLY "Broken Tomahawk" you can purchase with this authenticity duly noted on the coin's holder, although I have witnessed at least one other eBay member who saw fit to plagiarize at least part of my description and use my photos by changing the size and colors slightly.
