Presented here is a sophisticated and rare wristwatch, as it is indeed meant for someone keen on proudly standing apart from the rest. DETAILS: Case: ‘Ambassador’ model. The hinged square shaped case is simple yet delightful and highly noticeable with detailed engraving to the sides. Original & signed 'Bulova'. The 10kt rolled gold plate bezel and case back have been cleaned & repolished and fitted with a new acrylic crystal. The are the initials ‘ALB’ engraved on the back. In general the case looks great with only modest wear/scratches present commensurate with the age of the watch. Crown: Showing some wear. Dial: Very eye-catching & immaculate. The original dial has been professionally refinished to a high standard in a silver tone colour, accentuating and complementing the rich lustre of the 10kt gold plated case. The inner area of the dial is richly engraved with vertical lines and a chased border. The hour positions are marked with bold numerals which have been relumed and along with the hands glow well in the dark. The ‘Bulova’ name, inner minute chapter and sub-second dial at the six o’clock position are in black. Hands: Hour, minute and sub-second dial hands are all original, cathedral style, blue/black steel. Movement: BULOVA high quality Swiss manual wind movement. This is a fine classic 10AN calibre with 15 jewels marked with a crescent symbol for 1928. The movement benefits from a dust shield with retaining ring which are intact. The movement has been cleaned, oiled & adjusted, and is running well, keeping good time ready to wear. As with all vintage watches regular servicing is recommended. Size: Square approx. 33.0mm lug to lug X 26.60mm excluding the crown. Approx. 27.34mm excluding the lugs. Band: A new 20mm black leather band with gold tone buckle has been fitted complementing the watch perfectly. Box: This watch comes with its original Bulova presentation box which is in remarkable condition for its years. The box has a luxuriously sumptuous dark brown, wood grain textured finish. There is wear to the corners as shown in the photographs which perhaps can be forgiven when recognising the age of the box. Please be sure you are happy with this. The sprung lid opens as it should to reveal a sumptuous interior. The underside to the lid is covered in the signature cream coloured silk where to the right is the Bulova ‘Goddess of Time’ logo, and the name ‘Bulova’ beneath. The watch is mounted on a black velvet pad which nestles in the base with a gold tone printed braided margin. In the center is the ‘Bulova’ name in gold tone letters. This pad can be raised to better present the watch. Unusually, there is the original ‘Bulova’ foil price label to the bottom left hand corner. ___________________________________________________________________________________ General comments: This is an exceptional example of a Bulova ‘Ambassador’ watch from 1928 with original presentation box. The watch has been lovingly restored. The repolished case with beautifully refinished dial make the watch highly attractive. The watch has a pleasing classic look and feel that simply cannot be found in newer watches.
