Description: Bushmills Millennium Single Malt Whiskey Bottle and sleeve 2000 -empty. Cask #58, Bottle 90. The Water of Life. The last photo is of our cask at Bushmills in Northern Ireland - still fermenting at the time. Bottle is almost 25 years old. Bushmills Distillery special 350 casks fermenting since 1975 for the Millennium. First 17 years in a sherry cask and the last 3 years in an oak cask. Sold by the cask. Each cask held approximately 250 bottles-exact number wasn't known until each cask was bottled at Bushmills Distillery in Bushmills, Northern Ireland for the Millennium. Buyers could chose what name would go on their bottles. We chose our name for most but named a few bottles 'The Water of Life' (whiskey in Irish-or so we were told). Then shipped to the buyers around the world. We were one of the buyers, strictly by accident. Happened to be at Bushmills with our family. A son and our Swedish exchange student who was traveling with us, asked to borrow the money to buy a cask and they'd give us a couple bottles. We had a better idea, we bought the cask and would give them a couple bottles. Our Danish family/group also bought a cask and they came from Denmark to "see" their cask. Bushmills would put up buyers in a nearby hotel and let them "visit" their fermenting cask. The Danes stayed with us in Northern Ireland and didn't need a hotel. So Bushmills paid for a car rental and a very nice dinner for all of us. The Danish group were musicians and they put on a concert for the Bushmills' workers. We had a lot of fun with the bottles. Planned to sell them but all stayed with family or given as wedding and baby gifts to family and close friends. Bottles that we saw for sale ads - went for $800-but they were filled with whiskey. These bottles are empty. The Bushmills Millennium whiskey went over big with Hollywood. Some "stars" who bought bottles included Tom Cruise, Goldy Hawn, Patrick Stewart and LaVar Burton. Will include xerox copies of the three articles shown and photo of cask. .
