This bank issued 29,765 small size Nationals from 1929 thru July of 1935 when the note issuing period ended. Butler, New Jersey was a one bank town! The note has four ample margins, along with some of its original crispness and paper body. This note still has some original embossing remaining in the Bank Title overprint. There is some light dirt on both sides of the note, but all in all, this is a nice original circulated note. I do not see any rips, tears or pinholes in this note. I grade this note as a solid Very Fine, but you look at the scans and judge the quality for yourself. The Kelly Census shows 12 small size notes reported on this bank, 6 of these notes are $10.00 Type 1’s, 5 are $20.00 Type 1’s and 1 is a $20.00 Type-2. There are two other notes that grade Very Fine in the Census, but none higher. This note has already been reported in the Census, so it is included in the above numbers. This Butler National Banknote also comes with a Postcard printed in 4/Color Process of the actual Bank Building that this note was issued from!!! The First National Bank of Butler is the prominent 2 story building in the forefront, with the “American Hard Rubber Company, factory in the background and surrounding the Bank Building!
