Description: This beautiful and very rare children's tea set from Staffordshire England was made by I believe Minton. The shaping of the mold is identical to pages 62 and 63 in Lorraine Punchard's book "Playtime Pottery & Porcelain" .The set has a transfer print of deep mulberry then a pearlware glaze was applied giving it a bluish tint. The set was then carefully hand painted in colors of orange, pink, yellow, blue , red, green with a gold lustre applied on the edges. The decoration has a Gaudy look to it with the floral and leaf with vine type embellishments. This must surely have been an expensive set back then. This partial teaset is perfect for collectors of Gaudy or Mulberry childrens tea sets who are looking for a unique and rare item to add to their collection. The pieces have an impressed 7 ? with a decorators number in red on the bottoms. Only some slight wear to the painted decoration. There is some losses to the gilt rims. Please look at the photos carefully to determine the condition. The set comes with 6 deep dished saucers 1" deep and 4 1/2" across with some gilt loss, 1 has a lite 1/2" hairline at rim, 1 has an X shaped hairline on bottom not thru. 5 cups 1 3/4" tall and 2 7/8" across the rims 1 has a small chip at the rim, 1 has a lite hairline 1 1/4" down from the rim. 1 creamer 3 1/8" tall to top of handle and 3 3/4" across handle to spout edge. 1 waste bowl 2 3/4" tall and 4 5/8" across the top. 1 sugar bowl 4 1/4" tall and 4 3/4" across the shell shaped handles. The flower shaped finial has been broken off and glued back in place. This set will be carefully packed in bubblewrap and boxed with packing peanuts to insure a safe delivery.
