Description: Child Miniature Staffordshire Cobalt Blue ‘Little May’ with Dog Tea Set, c 1885 This is a child’s miniature Tea Set transfer printed in a striking cobalt blue on a creamy earthenware in a pattern referred to as ‘Little May’ with Dog. The Little May patterns and series were made by Charles Allerton & Sons, Staffordshire, England, c 1885. All the pieces in this set are marked with the Pattern Number 766, and the Registry Number 69456, with the exception of the creamer and the 2 cups. The Creamer is marked with ‘Staffordshire England.’ In this pattern, Little May is walking her Dog in the woods or garden. Other areas of this pattern reflect the Aesthetic period in which it was produced and illustrates scenes from nature that the Victorians adored. The Tea Set is in the Round shape; all the serving pieces are Round. Dimensions: (1) Teapot with Lid: 6” W x 3.75” D x 5.25” H The bottom part of the spout is stained.(1) Sugar with Lid: 4.75” W x 3.5” D x 4.5” H(1) Creamer: 3.75” W x 2.75” D x 3.25” H(2) Cups: 3.25” W x 2.5” D x 2” H(2) Saucers: 4.5” W x 1” H(2) Plates: 5.25” W x .675” H This Tea Set is in excellent condition with the exception noted above. Transfer skips, crazing, and additional minor typical firing imperfections sporadically may appear consistent with production at the time they were made. Presented as is and as found.
