Description: Travel back in time with this 1920s S.S. Stewart mandolin. I'm reasonably guessing it's from the 1920s or 1930s, from its looks, but I'm not certain. Can anybody guess who made it? S.S. Stewart is engraved on the metal backing plate on the tuners. Cosmetically, it looks nice for such an old instrument. There is lacquer checking on the body and the pickguard. The fretboard has some age and play wear, but looks good. Multi-bound top and back. The treble side of neck binding is missing. Scalloped tailpiece. Functionally, it is a repair project. No strings. The neck heel is separating from the body (please see photos). The neck heel itself is squished. It comes with some antique holiday sheet music. It comes in the original case in good condition. The handle, latches, and hinges are all still functional. Who wants to bring it back to musical life? Questions? It will be well packed with plenty of new 1/2" bubble wrap and shipped in a new 32"x19"x7" stout cardboard instrument box. Please check out our eBay store, Time Travel Music, for more cool vintage stuff, including a bunch of vintage guitars (and a few ukuleles, banjos, fiddles, mandolins and amps, as well as fiddles, brass, woodwind, and various oddball musical instruments and old instrument brochures & catalogs). And please check out our YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/toadstoolshadow, to hear some of our original music.
