Please ask if you require a more detailed condition report, or view gallery images.A striking and large original albumen photograph, from the 1870s, by noted French photographer Séraphin Médéric Mieusement.In 1851 the Commission des Monuments historiques contracted some of France's most important photographers to document the historic buildings of France, however, the project was unsuccessful. In the 1870s a new attempt was made and Médéric Mieusement was commissioned as photographer, resulting in this photograph and others.The photograph, which measures 38cm x 25cm, carries Mieusement's blue studio stamp just below the image on the original larger card mount (see pic below).
