Description: Late 1800s Photograph of Nubians, by Pascal SabahLarge 9x12 inch photograph on heavy card stock. The image shows Nubians (Sudan or Upper Egypt) of North Africa, both children and adults, posed against a temple. The title at bottom left reads Group of Nubiens at Dakkieh. Dakkieh (likely Dakka, Nubia) was a place in lower Nubia, the site of the Dakka Temple, which is no doubt what the group is standing in front of. Photo credit at bottom right is to P.[ascal] Sabah. Pascal Sabah (1823-1886) was a well-known photographer in Cairo and Istanbul in the late 1800s. Titles in white are hard to read but are there. Very good condition with thin light bit of toning at top edge. Nothing on back side.
