Description: Are you looking for an interesting large Antique picture with lots of action and drama? Do you like maritime or Boston subjects? This is a very large print (maybe called a chromolithograph and is in its original wood period frame). I searched for info about this and I found this on a gov reference site as: The Return, or Saved from the Wreck / painted by Thos. Brooks ; Armstrong & Co. Lith. Boston.Created / PublishedBoston : Published by Armstrong & Co., c1872.I am listing this for a starting price that is less than for what I think the big wood antique frame would sell. The one I am listing looks just like the one pictured on the gov site referenced above. My listing is called National Life Boat Institution and it's in its original frame. The Frame is antique and solid wood. Please look at the pictures. The lower left of the lithograph says "Gratis with The Citizen and Round Table" and on the log below the man in the foreground is Armstrong Litho Boston. These companies might help date it or determine the origin of its composition/ subject. Was this made after some notable event? This is a vintage Boston picture with a maritime atmosphere for decorating the right setting. The frame measures about 20 x 33 and the view size inside the frame is about 16" x 28" CONDITION: I can't tell you much about the provenance except I have had it for about 12 years hanging on our wall (smoke free home) but who knows where it was for the prior 100 yrs or so.). The item appears not ever have had a glass cover, the art is paper on heavy card stock. It has a patina of age and shows some dusty appearance of age. I have not cleaned it only lightly dusted it from time to time. It was stored in a closet for a while. It is just as I acquired it and there are scuffs to the wood frame which has been (some time in the past) reinforced with extra staples on the corners because of wood shrinkage due to age). The lithograph is paper on hard card stock but was not under glass, thus there are some light surface scratches to the print. Please see the pictures noting the scratch on the right.
