c1890 New York City | Fashionable Child with Flowing Blond Hair | Fredericks

Description: Antique cabinet card of a fashionable child photographed in the Manhattan borough of New York City, New York. Appears to be a boy given the outfit. But the child has a great outfit, long flowing curly blond hair, and a great hat. Also has a wide eyed expression on his face. Very unique image. Photography studio is listed as Fredericks. Charles Deforest Fredricks opened a studio at this location in 1875. Mr. Fredericks had quite a life. One bio on the Broadway Photographs website beings with this... "If Victor Hugo had written a novel about photography, its protagonist would have been C.D. Fredricks." He traveled and photographed in Cuba, Brazil, Paris, etc... Cabinet card dimensions are approximately 4.25" x 6.5". Not sure of exact date of photograph. The photographer died in 1894. This looks very similar in style to one by this photographer with a date of 1889. So most likely circa 1890. CONDITION: Please check photographs thoroughly for signs of wear. Multiple photos are always posted so that you know exactly what you will be receiving. Please message me with any specific questions about condition. ** Overall very good condition. But a few edge issues. Few scratches/blemishes. And age discoloration. ** Cabinet card will be mailed in protective packaging with tracking. Thanks for looking! Please let me know if you have any questions.
