Description: Rare Antique c.1923 Early Kodascope Model AKodak's First 16mm Home Movie Projector In Working Order / As Pictured - As-Is Early Serial Number: 03003 Watch the Video: https://youtu.be/rE7_84Mefog For 16mm silent film 400' spools - Claw Intermittent - Dual sprockets - Speed Control Rheostat for Lamp - Ammeter The 16mm Kodascope Model A was first marketed in 1923 as part of a home movie studio outfit, and (like this one) it didn't say "Model A" anywhere on it. The outfit included: the Cine-Kodak camera, tripod, Kodascope projector, projection screen, and film splicer, all of which sold together for $335. The projector (the "true first edition") that came with this initial release had a somewhat smaller lamp housing, which Kodak quickly replaced with the one you see here, though it still wasn't labeled "Model A." By 1924, they began marketing the projector by itself, without the rest of the equipment, and they added the words "Model A" to the tag. [ CONDITION... ]- In nice antique condition, from a non-smoking environment. - It has its original 1920s plug and cloth-covered power cord. You will want to replace this cord--you do NOT want to plug it into the wall! - Also please note that this is a 16mm dual-sprocket silent film projector. If you try to run a single-sprocket 16mm film with sound track through it, it will ruin the sound track and the film. - As shown in the video, the motor runs, the speed control works, and the ammeter also works. I don't have a small-reel silent film, so I cannot fully test it. In any case, it can use a deep cleaning, touch-up, and restoration. - The bulb is in working order so you can project a movie. (Note that antique projector bulbs are not guaranteed to survive shipping due to the fragile filament, regardless of how much care we take in packing--which we do!) - The lamp housing has a ding on one corner, which can probably be straightened out. - This is being sold for its collectible/historic/display value; you probably would not want to press this into everyday use. - There is no instruction manual, but they can be purchased online. The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep in mind that vintage/antique items always show their age. (Don't we all!?) It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please expect that there will be something about this item (or lot) that's not perfect and may need touch-up.
