Durable and cooler at 7 watts, but the coloring was uneven on the embossed glass bulbs. Embossed bulbs are discontinued the following year. Many disagreed with the decision. Collectors say these were the most distinctive lamps / Light bulbs made to date making them the rarest and most collectable lamps. Very popular, durable, cooler at 7 watts they produce vivid colors. With age they take on a mottled, chalky, worn appearance. When lit, they are as bright and vibrant as ever. 1958-1977 General Electric/Westinghouse C9 Outdoor Transparent Lamps - D15 smooth bulbs with exterior acrylic lacquer color coating, and aluminum bases. Very popular, fairly durable,cooler at 7 watts they produce vivid jewel bright colors. 1958-1977 General Electric/Westinghouse C9 Outdoor Transparent Twinkle Lamps– D27 smooth bulbs with exterior acrylic lacquer color coating, and aluminum bases. Identical to the D15 bulbs but with a bi-metal strip inside making the on and off twinkling connection they are very popular, fairly durable, cooler at 7 watts they produce vivid jewel bright colors. Discernible from the D15 bulbs only by close examination.
