Engraved after the original oil painting by Robert James Gordon, British genre and portrait painter who was active for 20+ years starting in the 1870s. From 1871 to 1894 he exhibited works at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and Society of British Artists in London, as well as at the Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Royal Scottish Academy, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and Manchester City Art Gallery. In 1876 he was elected a member of the Society of British Artists.Gordon is best known for his portraits of beautiful Victorian era women. ------ Condition.Trimmed margins.Some wear at the edges.( see the photos ) About 140+ years old.
