Description: I bought this gem at a recent local car parts swap meet. It is a rumble seat lid that is marked as fitting a 1935 or 1936 Cadillac. It most likely fits a coupe or cabriolet (convertible coupe). I am guessing it might also fit a similar vintage of LaSalle, Buick, or larger Oldsmobile vehicle of the same vintage. I am certainly no expert on the application of this item so please help me here if you possibly can. This exceptionally nice original GM lid measures 41" wide by 27-1/2" tall across the ends. It might also fit a coupe with a trunk instead of a rumble seat if one makes some modifications to it. Both rumble seat side hinges are included but the rotating latch assembly and outer locking handle are missing. About 6 inches of the sheet metal channel across the bottom that held a rubber wiper type of gasket on the left end is missing. There is no rusted out or even thin sheet metal on the basic lid anywhere. The most important damage that I can find is relatively minor and consists of a shallow crease less than 1/8" deep by about 3" long located several inches below the hole where the latch handle was located. I tried to show this damage in the 11th photo of this listing. This should be easy to straighten out because there is some limited access through the several large holes in the inside framework. The larger GM coupes and convertible coupes of this vintage had another short but full width access lid located below this lid which allowed access to a storage compartment below the rumble seat floor where the spare tire was stored. I will have that lower door and the short panel above it and below the rumble lid to list here in about 2 to 3 weeks. If you live outside of the USA, I believe I can wrap this lid with cardboard and just barely make it meet the USPS Priority Mail International size limit for length plus girth totalling 108" or less. I suspect these pieces were removed from the back of a coupe or convertible coupe some time before WW II when the vehicle they are from was converted into a pickup truck or automobile wrecker.
