Description: If you are pro-nuclear, you have something important to add to the energy debate. You don't need to be silent! This book will help you make your voice heard. Nuclear power is the largest source of clean energy production in the United States and a major source world-wide. Advocates appreciate the importance of nuclear power for clean air and for our planet's future. In this book, award-winning author Meredith Angwin guides you in your advocacy: How you can support nuclear energy simply sitting at your computer. How to support nuclear energy in public, using the same techniques as professional speakers and communicators. How to speak at a public hearing or be invited to speak to a legislative committee. How to deal with your own emotions in a world saturated with anti- nuclear messages. How you can find other nuclear supporters and have fun together. Campaigning for Clean Air is a blueprint for nuclear advocacy. It features anecdotes, examples and insights from many people who actively support nuclear energy. It contains well-referenced facts about nuclear energy that you can use in your own statements. This book will inspire your work for a clean energy future. Meredith Angwin is a passionate advocate for clean, safe, affordable nuclear energy. Her pioneering work in favor of nuclear energy has been called "legendary" by other pro-nuclear advocates. She also works to protect the interests of electricity consumers (that is, all of us). In this role she serves on the Coordinating Committee for the Consumer Liaison Group of ISO-NE, the New England grid operator. Meredith holds an MS in physical chemistry from the University of Chicago. In her research career, she was inventor on several patents in pollution control for fossil fuels and did extensive work in corrosion control for nuclear plants. Meredith was one of the first women project managers at the Electric Power Research Institute, starting in the renewables group and later moving to the nuclear group. She founded a small company that consulted on corrosion control and water chemistry. Her clients included natural gas pipeline operators and fossil, nuclear, and renewable power plants all over the world. Her nuclear advocacy work includes writing, speaking at hearings, and organizing rallies. For this work, she received a President's Citation from the American Nuclear Society. Meredith publishes at her own blog, Yes Vermont Yankee, on the Energy Northwest blog, and on the American Nuclear Society blog, ANS Nuclear Café. She also publishes in nuclear industry trade magazines and local newspapers.
