CARNIVOROUS PITCHER PLANT: Sarracenia flava var. rubricorpora SMALLER SIZE

Description: Up for auction a mature Sarracenia flava var. rubricorpora. These plants are of flowering size and may have multiple growth points. Sarracenia flava var. rubricorpora is a spring producer. It starts by producing robust green pitchers with red pigment running through the vascular system or "veins". As the weather warms, and the sun's intensity increases the tubes of the pitches become a deep red. The more exposure to sunlight the plant receives, the darker and more complete the red of the pitchers will be. This is followed by a slow transitioning to non-carnivorous phyllodia by the end of the growing season. Their large yellow flowers are produced before the season's first pitchers on tall stalks, and can smell quite sweet! These plants will be slightly smaller than the mature plants sold in my other auctions. I'm offering these as a way for others to acquire these plants without the added cost. They will be producing adult leaves, but may or may not be currently sexually mature. They will also likely have a single growth point. If they do not flower the year of purchase, it will send up a flower stalk within 1-2 seasons. The photos in the listing are of the mother colony. They are NOT of the exact plants you will be receiving. These plants are now in full dormancy. Growth for the season has ceased. The buyer should be prepared to provide the necessary conditions to complete the dormancy requirements. The plants will also be cleaned of all dead matter from the previous season. This may involve up cutting foliage back to the rhizome. Shipping USPS Priority will be required to ensure healthy arrival. Plants will be shipped on Tuesday pending payment. If payment hasn't been made in time for Tuesday shipment, the shipment MUST be delayed until the following Tuesday. This is all to only ensure the shortest delivery time and reduce stress on the plants. In addition a delay is shipment due to extreme weather (heat/cold) may be possible, but will only be needed if the plant's health is in jeopardy. Some foliage may be removed to reduce water loss. This harms the plant in no shape or form, aside from cosmetically. Which I find far less of immediate importance than the overall health of the plant. The plants will be shipped bare-root and wrapped with fungicide treated damp paper towels. The buyer should be ready for delivery with materials to pot the plant. Do not allow the plants to remain packaged for potting the following day. Do not remove the plants from the package and allow the root stock to remain wrapped to be potted at a later time. Do not remove the packaging and root wrapping to "temporary" pot them until they can be potted correctly. Remove all packaging on the day of delivery and permanently pot up the plants in a suitable soilless medium. If the buyer has any questions on what they should be potted in PLEASE contact me; using the incorrect medium will ensure compromising the plants health. In my opinion, opportunities for the cultivation of these plants should not be set by financial limits. That being said, there are no refunds for previous auctions sold for less amounts at a later date. Rest assured that price fluctuations will not be drastic if a change does occur.
