Description: Caron, Le Narcisse Noir w Matching Box with a Little Vintage Perfume Remains Click images to enlarge Description Up for auction is a Caron perfume bottle in box that is vintage. The fragrance is called: Le Narcisse Noir. It was introduced in 1911 and the perfume is considered a floral fruity. This was the first fragrance of this company to gain attention! In fact, I found on the web that it was later made famous by screen star, Gloria Swanson in the movie: Sunset Boulevard. This perfume bottle is in the original black paper box. The edging around the box has a gold coloration which is fraying and coming off in spots, but the black exterior paper is excellent. There is a beautiful gold foil label in the corner with the name of the fragrance. The interior of the box and lid still has a beautiful gold Moire paper that is in really beautiful condition. There is also a bit of paper that can be used to sit the bottle on, so it does not get any perfume on the box interior. The bottle still has a little bit of the fragrance remaining, but it is old and not guaranteed. But, since it has been in the box, it may still have a little resemblance to the original fragrance. The stopper on the bottle is a beautiful black glass flower. On the underside of the stopper is etched 98 and this also matches the number on the underside of the bottle (which is a polished square). The 98 could have been the number associated with the individual who marked the bottle so the correct stopper fit the neck. This bottle can be described as rather squatty, and it is a little hard to see the beautiful gold foil label on the front of the bottle that matches the label on the box lid. The condition of the bottle is excellent. The stopper has the cording going around the stopper and then the cording goes around the neck. So, unless you untie the cording the stopper will not come off the bottle. Height of the bottle is: 2 ¼ inches. In order to ship the bottle, I may need to place the perfume in another container. My first attempt will be to use parafilm to keep the stopper firmly in place so that I do not have to remove the perfume. Prior to shipping, I will also remove my taped inventory number.
