Description: For sale, a vintage TV/Radio repairman's CarryAll brand Tube Caddy. This example is in good condition for its age, with no rips or peeling on the case's cover fabric. The wood is all in good condition and not warped and the latches, handle, and snap that holds the internal compartment shut are all in working order. The internal compartment hinges and extension stops are in good shape and hold the compartments open at 90 degrees. The brass finish on the case latches has a dark patina on it from age and use, but no corrosion and they close securely. The CarryAll logo is still visible and sharp on the side of the case. There is a large assortment of tubes in the caddy, including popular older radio tubes, television tubes, and an assortment of high-voltage vintage capacitors, many look unused, some are still in boxes. There is also a GC tube pin straightening tool and three different types of tube extractors ("Chinese-finger puzzle" for tight spots, an old GC tube removal tool, and a rubber tube pull/insert tool). There are also a few interesting TV spare parts such as "fuseistors" and an old RCA UHF lightning arrestor. There are a few miscellaneous boxes marked with WWII JAN (Joint Army/Navy Military) boxes with 1944 and 1945 dates on them, although I think some of these don't have the original tubes in them. This item is an interesting view of what the "TV/Radio repairman" used to carry around for substitution testing and spare parts to fix the electronic devices of the time. It's very cool and I have enjoyed looking through the box just for historic value since there are some uncommon tubes in this kit from American companies that are lost to history. Vintage tube carton collectors may find some gems in here too, with some older brands and logos I haven't seen for a long time.
