Catherine Ponder (born February 14, 1927) is an American minister and founder of Unity Church Worldwide, affiliated with the Unity Church, and author of several New Thought books on mainly focused on the theme of prosperity. Church Worldwide has as its spiritual head an ordained Unity minister, Dr. Catherine Ponder, who has served as a minister in Unity Churches since 1956. She was ordained by Lowell Fillmore, the son of Unity's founders. Her inspirational books have been published by Prentice-Hall, Parker, Unity, and DeVorss & Co., are widely read in this country and abroad. She has lectured widely in churches of Unity and Religious Science for business, professional, and convention groups, and has appeared on numerous television talk shows from coast to coast. Unity is a spiritual organization founded by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in 1889. It grew out of Transcendentalism and became part of the New Thought movement.[1] Unity may be best known for its Daily Word devotional publication begun in 1924. Originally based in Christianity with emphasis on the Bible, Unity has said it is a "Christian movement that emphasizes affirmative prayer and education as a path to spirituality," and says about itself, "We honor all spiritual practices and the diversity of paths leading to enlightenment."
