By 1970, a total of 532 O-2s had been built, in two variants, for the USAF.During the Vietnam War, the O-2A was introduced as the forward air control (FAC) aircraft.O-2 Skymaster is a target designation aircraft developed by the American company Cessna. The O-2 aircraft - the military version of the Model 337 - was used by the US Air Force for a variety of purposes, including an advanced aircraft pilot in Vietnam. The military chose a very suitable vehicle for this role at the end of 1966. The military version of the Model 337M was equipped with four underwing pylons for hanging signal flares, containers with NAR and other light weapons, for example, a container with a Minigun machine gun.The US Air Force received 501 of these aircraft under the designation O-2A. In addition, the Air Force served as an O-2B version for psychological warfare. It was equipped with leaflet dropping equipment and a powerful loudspeaker system with three 600-watt amplifiers and a battery of directional speakers. A total of 31 O-2B aircraft were delivered. The O-2A and O-2B versions were equipped with advanced navigation and communication systems. The same aircraft were delivered to the Sri Lankan Air Force, the Ecuadorian, Mexican and Peruvian navies, the Chilean Army and the Jamaican Defense Force Air Force. The Burkina Faso and Togo Air Force also received Super Skymaster aircraft built by Reims.Summit Sentry O2-337 aircraft were sold to the Haiti Air Corps and the Thai Air Force.
