Description: A wonderful landscape painting of Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire painted by American artist Charles Curtis Allen (1886-1950). Allen was born in Waban, Massachusetts and studied at the Worcester Museum of Art School with Philip Hale, Hermann Dudley Murphy, and Henry D. Rice. He later became good friends with artists Frank Benson, William Tarbell, and S. Dacre Bush, often visiting Bush at his summer home on Cape Neddick, Maine. Oil on canvas, signed lower right, a comparable real photo on verso inscribed “Mt. Monadnock from Gap Mtn, Troy, NH,” and housed in a giltwood frame.
