J. Russell. Savage stands out as having been the photographer of several of the most celebrated images taken at the celebration of the joining of the transcontinental railroads at Promontory Point, Utah in 1869. He is additionally recognized for taking the first photographs of what would later become Zion National Park, as well as recording the construction of the Mormon Temple and Tabernacle in Salt Lake City.
