Description: Bashania fargesii Common name: ‘Wind Break Bamboo’ Bashania fargesii is a high elevation, mountain bamboo native to central China. Its has very strong and erect culms, making it a perfect wind break or hedge. Canes turn blue with age. It’s long leaves are somewhat reminiscent of Pseudosasa japonica, Japanese Arrow bamboo. Wind Break bamboo is ideal for erosion control along stream banks and hillsides, or for filling in a fast hedge or screen. Can take salt air as well. Synonyms: Arundinaria fargesia. Height x Diameter: 25′ x 2″. Minimum temperature: Hardy to 0°F. USDA zone 7-10. Light: Full sun. Culm: Green-yellow. Uses: Hedge, screen, crafts, building, stakes..
