Description: Condition: Good. Decorative white boards with elegant gilt design to the front and different but similarly elegant design along the book's spine. Because of their paleness, discoloration through aging, foxing and handling have left some marking and tanning. Fore-edge is uncut. Printed on a laid-type paper, the book is neatly printed on the letterpress of Chiswick Press, making use of a graceful font, with a black and red title page; plus side headings at the right-hand page margins in red throughout. The main condition-related issue is foxing on the first couple of pages (a common issue with this book). Once we get into Herbert's text, however, the pages are bright, and the printing flawless- see photos. Limited edition: unnumbered of 350 'copies for sale'. pp. 243. 8vo. With the gorgeous bookplate of distinguished medieval historian and publisher Richard Barber, who founded the Boydell Press in 1969 (later Boydell and Brewer).
