Description: Chronicles Of Fayette The Reminiscences Of Julia Lee Sinks Edited by Walter P. Freytag and a Foreword by Lonn Taylor published 1975 This history of Fayette County, Texas was originally commissions in 1876 for the American Centennial. Julia Lee Sinks given the task of compiling and writing the history of the county. Mrs. Sinks interview old residents whose memories of the 1830's and 1840's were still fresh. One hundred years later -Walter Freytag was commissioned to edit Mrs. Sink's work. The goal was to have it published 100 years later as a U.S. Bicentennial project. Soft cover, 145 pages including index. This book comes from a private collection. Cover shows wear, soiling, and fading from age and use. Name of former owner is written on front end paper along with a bicentennial sticker. Otherwise - the interior is in good condition with no other apparent markings. Binding is intact but there is a small tear of the paper along spine (see picture above). The small tear does not seem to have any affect on the book's binding. This is a USED book and sold AS IS.
