Description: Chulucanas pottery man and woman figurine from Peru. The traditional “gordita” style man and woman are embraced in a dance. The beautiful subtle and rich colors on this piece are created using techniques that trace back to the indigenous Vicus culture and pre-Incan Tallan people. Each piece is formed entirely by hand using wooden paddles and stones to form and smooth the clay. Pieces are smoke fired multiple times to create the rich colors. This particular piece was made and signed by Segundo Sosa. Measures approximately 5 ½”wide X 4 ¾” tall. Excellent condition.
