Sketchbooks have 80 pages without lines and ivory-colored, 165 GSM, thick acid-free paper that supports a variety of media and stands up to erasing. They can lie flat to accommodate however you like to sketch. The sketchbooks have much thicker and better paper than the notebooks. This is a first edition, first printing. This is from the first edition and NOT the second edition printed in 2008. Shantung is a type of silk texture weave fabric historically from the province of Shandong in east China. This is our last Orange Silk Shantung pocket sketchbook. Get it before it is gone. The Moleskine Museum Notebook in Van Gogh colors was a special edition of Moleskine presented by Amsterdam's Van Gogh museum in spring 2002 for the exhibition dedicated to the artist with 700,000 visitors. The notebooks were produced in six brilliant colors in silk shantung, inspired by Van Gogh's vibrant palette. About 21 years old and truly vintage and unique On the band around each notebook, an excerpt of one of six famous paintings, each selected as the special inspiration for the book. Each is equipped with an enclosed leaflet with information on the artist's works and note-books. The acid free paper pages are thread bound. The notebooks were an elegant and sophisticated line, long out of print. This was made during the time Kikkerland Design Inc. was the importer of Moleskine in to the USA which was from 1999 until 2007. Kikkerland Design was the first to bring Moleskine in to the USA starting in 1999. The books are marked Modo & Modo on the inside back of front cover, see photo number 5. From what I understand the Moleskine notebooks marked Modo& Modo are the original ones made by the founding Milan, Italy company starting in 1997 and ending in 2006. After 2006 the company has been owned by several different companies but not Modo & Modo. All of the books in this limited edition do not have a cloth ribbon book mark. Some books are marked on the back: Printed and bound in China - Designed and assembled in Italy. The Van Gogh Museum Moleskine edition is the first multi-colored Moleskine notebooks because at the time this edition came out only black or red oil cloth where made. This small, 3-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch sized is great for carrying in pocket or purse. Moleskine regular paper does not play well with fountain pens, but the sketchbooks perform admirably. Also notice the elastic that keeps the book closed is in matching color to the silk and on the inside the gusset on the storage pocket in the back also matches the cover. All books are marked on the front bottom center with Van Gogh Museum logo and on the back in the bottom center with an embossed Moleskine. This looks like a Moleskine and yet it doesn’t. Because of the bright color and textured surface, one could be fooled to think it is not a classic Moleskine and yet it is. This was made only 5 years after Moleskine started in Italy. The information eBay has in their Synopsis is not about this notebook as it shows a 2008 publication date and this was made in 2002. The back printing on the paperband is different on the first edition compared to the second edition. This is about 21 years old and truly vintage and a unique piece of history for all three, Moleskine the company and Vincent Van Gogh and the Amsterdam's Van Gogh museum.
