A LOEW'S HOTEL City Squire Motor Inn - now The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel https://www.fodors.com/community/united-states/nyc-history-city-squire-hotel-623781/ The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel (New York City, New York)https://wikimapia.org/4032028/The-Manhattan-at-Times-Square-Hotelhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loews_Hotels 226-foot, 22-story modernist hotel completed in 1962. Designed by Kahn & Jacobs, it originally opened as the City Squire Motor Inn. It later operated for many years as the Sheraton City Squire, then the Sheraton Manhattan, and more recently as The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel. The 2-story base takes up the full block, with two intersecting tower slabs forming the upper floors. The slightly longer one runs north-south, situated near the east end of the base, and the intersection east-west slab is close to the north end. The main entrance is at the center of the east facade on 7th Avenue, set below a wide metal marquee. Art-Deco styled bronze screens were installed in the large, double-height window openings at the 2nd floor of the east facade (and east ends of the north and south elevations) when the hotel was renovated during its conversion to The Manhattan at Times Square. The ground floor is lined with glass storefronts and has multiple vehicle entrances and exits for the underground parking garage on both 51st & 52nd Streets. The full Broadway elevation and west ends of the north and south facades are covered by advertising bands at the 2nd floor. The upper floors are faced in white brick, with salmon-colored brick on most of the east facade, and the west end of the east-west slab, which has three bays of triple-windows. The east facade spans seven bays, each with a pair of joined triple-windows. The north and south ends are white brick, slightly recessed from the salmon-colored middle section (where a grid of white brick separates each bay and floor). The south elevation of the north-south slab has two bays of triple-windows, and the north elevation has one bay at the east end. The west-facing elevation of the north-south slab is clad in white brick. The short section north of the east-west intersecting slab has bands of dark-tinted windows (divided by mullions into groups of three panes), as does the longer south section, and both the north-facing and south-facing facades of the east-west slab. The hotel contains 659 guest rooms, currently under the ownership of the Al Rayyan Tourism Investment Company of Qatar. The ground floor is occupied by K&N Gifts, Zan boutique, a convenience store, It's Always Christmas New York, and Phantom of Broadway gifts. www.manhattanhoteltimessquare.com/
