Description: Significant collection consisting mainly of drawings executed by the well-known French sculptor Denys Puech (1854-1942), comprising 134 leaves of drawings mostly for sculpture projects—several with sketches and text on recto and verso. Also included are two albums with a few sketches and extensive autograph manuscript entries. One album dated Venice 1885, the same year the artist was boarder at Villa Medicis where he presented some of his most notable sculptures "La Sirène”, "La Seine”, and "La muse d'André Chénier”. Physical:Drawings executed on paper using pencil, sanguine, charcoal, or india ink. Largest measures about 230 x 140 mm, but mostly between 160 x 120 mm and 100 mm x 150 mm; four approx. 55 x 50 mm. The two albums contain 10 and 17 leaves and measure 155 x 100 mm.In very good overall condition despite minor soiling, albums with some usage wear. All drawings and the two working albums marked with a small red stamp stating “D.Puech” or “Archives Denys Puech Lestel”. Provenance: De-accessed by the artist family.
