Description: 1995 United States Postal Service Commemorative Stamp Collection Yearbook in Hardcover with Dust Jacket. USPS Stamp Collection Book, Book Only, No Stamps. This book features detailed feature pieces on each of the stamps released in 1995. From the Book: 1995 was an exceptional year. It began with a first-class rate increase from 29 cents to 32 cents an increase that rendered the last 29 cent stamp and the year's first commemorative issue, the Lunar New Year, good for all of two days. Yet, despite the small rate increase, 27 new commemorative subjects totaling over 2,790,000,000 stamps were printed in 1995. That's a total of over 75 tons of those tiny little punched out paper dots, known as "chad", that are produced in the stamp perforation process. process. Among the year's most notable commemoratives were the group of four honoring the 25th anniversary of Earth Day. Over 150,000 children, ages 8 through 13, entered the national stamp design contest which produced four outstanding designs (see page 12). Capturing the allure and charm of an American beauty like Marilyn Monroe, however, was no small task. Nine artists submitted over two dozen pieces of original art in an attempt to capture the humor and beauty, glamour and sensuality that was Marilyn Monroe. The final selection resulted in 400,000,000 commemorative Marilyns that rolled off the presses and into the hands and hearts of millions. The star-studded stamp even included a star perforation in each corner instead of the standard round dot. 40,000,000,000 stamps flew from coast to coast over the course of the year. This year, over 1,500 artist's portfolios were reviewed in the process of matching subject to designer. The final team of 28 talented designer/illustrators who brought these 27 issues to life can be found on pages four through seven. All in all, the year 1995 leaves stamp enthusiasts lots to look forward to. Dust jacket has some wear and tear but book itself is in great condition. No rips or tears, no writings or markings. All pages are complete and intact. Please see photos for details, this book is as pictured.
